I have always wanted to visit Japan after seeing the quirky dressed Harajuku girls in Tokyo, magical pictures of parks covered in pink snowflakes of cherry blossoms and the mysterious Geisha’s in Kyoto.
Japan has always seemed like a mystical country. So, when I had the opportunity to spend 10 days travelling around Japan all my dreams came to life. During my 10 day trip I stayed in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Hiroshima.
Each place I visited was different and distinct from the last. Whether it was the neon lights that lit up the Tokyo skyline or the infamous Shibuya Crossing were the traffic lights stop and pedestrians surge into the intersection from all five sides of the street. Creating a mass catwalk were tourist, students, workers, shoppers strutted their stuff in a uniformed chaos for 20 seconds. I experience Japanese culture in Kyoto the former imperial capital and saw Geisha’s dashing from appointments via the dimly lit alleyways of Gion. To a slower pace of life in Nara and the haunting memories of Hiroshima.
Visiting these prefecture allowed me a rare glimpse inside Japan’s past and present.
Japan was everything I ever thought it would be, it’s in my list of favourite countries and a place I will visit again. If you haven’t visited yet, let these 20 photos inspire you to plan your next visit to Japan.
